**Planet K Articulated Desk Lamp — Mid-1960s

Sale price$295.00

Australian Manufacture**

History

A genuine Planet K articulated desk lamp from the mid-1960s, combining industrial precision with mid-century modern form. Planet K lamps were widely used in Australian and British drafting studios, workshops and technical offices throughout the 1950s–70s. Their balanced-arm mechanism — inspired by George Carwardine’s Anglepoise principle — provides smooth articulation and perfect weight distribution, a hallmark of functional design still admired by collectors today.

Features

  • Signature counter-spring balanced arm

  • Pressed steel base

  • Enameled metal shade in period-correct grey and cream

  • Later vintage blue detail applied to the base joint — characterful and sympathetic to original mid-century enamel tones

  • Classic Planet K industrial proportions and movement
