KB Lager (Tooth & Co., 1930s) — Original Australian Linen-Backed Lithographic Advertising Poster by Alan D. Baker (signed)
Large and superb original 1930s Australian beer advertisement by illustrator Alan D. Baker, created for Tooth & Co.’s “K.B.” Lager campaign. Set on a sunlit beach, the artwork captures the optimism and style of pre-war Australian advertising — the bronzed figure, the simple composition and the familiar line “Now for a ‘K.B.’!”. Printed by William Brooks & Co. Ltd., Sydney using true stone lithography, showing Baker’s airbrushed transitions and strong colour blending.
A clear example of Australian commercial art from the period, with the depth and finish typical of hand-drawn lithographic printing rather than later offset processes.
