Rare Early 20th Century Original Theatrical Poster (J. & N. Tait, c.1910s–1920s). Marguerite D’Alvarez

Sale price$650.00

Genuinely rare, original early 20th-century Australian concert poster advertising appearances by Marguerite D’Alvarez, presented by J. & N. Tait at the Town Hall. The dramatic photographic image and bold typography reflect the theatrical advertising style of the period, when international performers were promoted through striking street posters and short-run venue displays.

Marguerite D’Alvarez was widely promoted in Australia as “The Flaming Star of the Concert World” and “The World Famous Contralto.” Contemporary Trove newspaper listings confirm her Australian tours under the management of J. & N. Tait, one of the country’s most influential early concert and theatrical promoters. Posters from these tours were produced in limited numbers and rarely survive.
