AGA Copper Lantern Table Lamp — Early 20th Century
Description
Step into the past with this original AGA copper lantern from the early 20th century, later converted into an electrified table lamp. Standing around 38 cm high with a 22 cm diameter, it blends functional lighting with maritime and industrial heritage. The copper body shows warm natural patina with touches of verdigris and age marks — the kind of surface character you expect from an early utility lantern. The classic form remains: round lens opening, hinged front door, and carry handle.
AGA is best known today for their cast-iron cookers, but in the early 1900s they also produced lanterns and lighting components. This example was likely a kerosene or marine-style lantern originally, now adapted for mains electricity (safe rewiring recommended if used long term). When lit, it gives off a warm, atmospheric glow — ideal for a hallway, study, or feature table.
