🐊 Vintage Crocodile Taxidermy β€” c.1950s Small Specimen

Sale price$345.00

Description
A nicely preserved small vintage crocodile taxidermy, likely mid-century (circa 1950s–70s), mounted in full form with mouth open and glass eyes intact. Its long, narrow snout and balanced body give it a sculptural presence β€” part curiosity, part natural history. The finish and hand-stitched ventral seam suggest traditional early methods used in Southeast Asia for educational or export display pieces.

This example has aged gracefully, showing natural toning to the hide and a well-stitched underside. The body retains shape and colour with no structural collapse. Some small losses and wear to the feet and tail edge, consistent with age and handling, but overall it remains solid and stable.

Perfect for styling in a cabinet of curiosities, a study, or as a conversational accent in a mid-century or eclectic interior.

Collector’s Note
Mid-century small crocodile taxidermy pieces like this were often exported from Thailand or the Philippines between 1940–1970, when natural history displays were popular in European and Australian curios shops. Early hand-stitched examples are increasingly hard to source in such complete form.
